Alberth Béla: Surgical treatment of caustic injuries of the eye (Budapest, 1968)

В. ALBERTH SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CAUSTIC INJURIES OF THE EYE Problems of the surgical management of the so-called hopeless cases of severe caustic injuries are discussed in the monograph. In cases without symblepharon total lamellar or perforating keratoplasty is performed. Complications arising after these operations and their prevention by combining transplantation with immunosuppression are dealt with. The author is the first to show, by a mathematicalstatistical method, that ABO-compatibility plays an important part in opacification of the transplant. In cases of symblepharon authohaemoinjection, extraconieal keratoplasty as well as skin, amnion, peritoneum, cadaver conjunctiva and oral mucous membrane grafting have been performed. Fresh caustic injuries have been successfully treated with á chaud keratoplasty. AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ PUBLISHING HOUSE OF THE HUNGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES BUDAPEST
