Andrásfai Béla: Introductory graph theory (Budapest, 1977)

Graph theory has become an independent branch of mathematics in the last two decades and with its great variety of applications, offers the solution to very many natural problems. No advanced mathematical tools are required but deep consideration sometimes is. This introductory text is different from others in that instead of rigorous systematization, the results follow the procedure of discovery, solution of sub-statements, definition of new concepts, and determination of possible generalizations from the solution of practical problems; the reader is constantly stimulated. Apart from its obvious usefulness to all interested in mathematics—teacher and pupil alike—university students, mathematicians and engineers should find this book of benefit. In fact, it is likely to be of interest to all whose work involves problem solving. A second volume with further topics is at present being prepared.
