Augusztinovics Mária (szerk.): Long-term models at work (Budapest, 1984)
LODG-TERm íTODSli RT UUORH Edited by morio Augu/zb'ncMC/ The economy-wide long-term planning covering 15-20 years and the routine application of mathematical models and computer technology integrated into planning were new phenomena in Hungary in the midseventies. Concomitant with these two endeavours was the introduction of a computerized planning system including macroeconomic models in long-term planning, which is called the “system of quantitative synthesis”. The book reports on the results of this pioneering work, including the computations themselves and draws conclusions for future economic policy. The authors were members of a team which created and operated the system of quantitative synthesis within the Department for Long-Term Planning of the National Planning Office of Hungary. The book may be of interest to both theoretical economists and practical planners since it does not merely discuss mathematical models theoretically but outlines the experiences connected with their application in economy-wide planning.
