ANTITRINITARIANISM IN THESECOND IIÁIT OE THE 16ТН CENTURY Edited by ROBERT DÁN and ANTAL PIRNÁT (Studia Humanitatis 5) The 400th anniversary of the death of Ferenc Dávid, the martyred founder and first bishop of the Hungarian Unitarian Church, was commemorated in 1979. On this occasion the Hungarian Academy of Sciences organized a colloquium at Siklós for scholars investigating the history of the radical religious movements of the second half of the 16th century. The colloquium was attended by eminent scholars from Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and the United States. The Siklós colloquium, the full material of which is covered by the present volume, was the first international scientific meeting giving a comprehensive view of this period of the antitrinitarian movement, and the religious and philosophical trends related to it, for scholars dealing with - the cultural life, the literary, ecclesiastic and philosophical history of the times. In accordance with the occasion of the anniversary, the majority of the papers dealt with the activities of representatives of the East-Central European (Transylvanian, Hungarian, Polish, Czech) antitrinitarian movement. However, a great deal of interesting information was contributed by some of the participants also on parallel ecclesiastic and cultural developments in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.
