RADIATION CHEMISTRY III Proceedings of the Third Tihany Symposium 10 — 15 May, 1971, Hungary Edited by J. Dobó and P. Hedvig This meeting provoked special worldwide interest. There were over 200 participants present and practically all important schools of radiation chemistry were represented. The main results obtained in the field of radiolysis of aqueous solutions, organic compounds, monomers and polymeric compounds were discussed. The novelty of this Symposium is that in addition to the results of the basic research attained in these fields, some industrially realized processes have also been presented. A general development broadening the scope of radiation chemistry could definitely be established. The papers contained in this volume are of basic interest. They deal with problems of general importance in chemistry, such as reactions of free radicals, ion-molecule reactions, the effects of the physical structure on the chemical reactions in solids a.s.o. In some of the papers new experimental technique is introduced; others discuss the possibilities of the practical application.
