Hahn István (szerk.): Oikumene III. - Studia ad historiam antiquam classicam et orientalem spectantia 3. (Budapest, 1982)

OIHUMENE Studia ad historiam antiquam classicam orientalem spectantia Edited by István Hahn This is the third volume in a series devoted to studies of ancient history, the first two volumes of which have won wide recognition abroad. In keeping with the international character of the yearbook, Volume 3, like the previous volumes, contains papers by Hungarian and foreign scholars. “The Structure of Near Eastern Society”, a nearly book-length study by I. Diakonoff, investigates the structure of Mesopotamian and other ancient Oriental societies on the basis of cuneiform sources. Another extensive study, by U. Luft, deals with the Illahun papyri, a high-value source on the history of the Egyptian Middle Kingdom, publishing for the first time this important material from the collection of the Berliner Staatliche Museen. L. Kákosy’s paper casts light on the interesting aspects of the late Egyptian star cult. Among the papers on Roman history, special mention must be made of E. Ferenczy’s study on the role of the clientes in the early Republican period. AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ, BUDAPEST £; :)?•■'*£%S'' .-.', .' v .-' v ' .; ' ; ... V:'.
