Jemnitz János: The danger of war and the Second International (1911) - Studia historica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 84. (Budapest, 1972)

J. Jemnitz THE DANGER OF WAR AND THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL 1911 (Studia Historica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 84) This work introduces in detail the attitude of the socialists in different countries and the various trends within a country concerning war, before World War I. The book relies on protocols of congresses, press-material and letters of Hynman, Quelch, A. Labriola and H. Müller published for the first time by the author on the basis of the material of the Amsterdam Archives. The author analyzes in detail the relation of the working class movement to the 1911 Moroccan war crisis and to the Italian—Turkish war. He also presents what efforts the working people made to restrain the war movements of their governments, parallelly it is outlined that nationalist tendencies also manifested themselves in the working class movement causing much anxiety. By elaborating the year of 1911 in detail, the author helps us to understand why the International failed in 1914. AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ PUBLISHING HOUSE OF THE HUNGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES BUDAPEST
