K. JORDAN CHAPTERS ON THE CLASSÍCAL CALCULUS OF PROBABILITY This volume is to present the classical problems and the historical evolution of the Calculus of Probability for the nonbeginner. Chapter I is a historical summary and a philosophical background of the evolution of the concept of probability. Chapter II describes the tools from combinatorial analysis, calculus of finite differences and constructive function theory. The following seven chapters provide the author’s own discoveries which are well ahead of his age and may ensure the survival of his name. Such interesting though less known problems like the problem of roulette, lottery and poker are also treated at length. Chapter X as well as several other sections in various chapters deal entirely with the most important applications. This compilation includes practically all problems and tests of mathematical statistics that have been worked out by the 1920s. A KADÉMIAI K I ADÓ BUDAPEST I
