Király Z. (szerk.): Current topics in plant pathology (Budapest, 1977)

CURRENT TOPICS IN PLANT PATHOLOGY This comprehensive volume, edited by Academician Z. Király, containing the proceedings of the Symposium held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, June 24—27, 1975 on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the establishment of the Academy is well illustrated with more than 160 figures. Current topics in plant pathology such as Resistance to Fungus Diseases, Metabolic Aspects of Fungus Diseases, Resistance to Bacterial Diseases, Epidemiological and other Aspects of Bacterial Diseases, Biochemistry and Physiology of Virus Infection and Mycoplasma Diseases are elaborated at length by the participants at this meeting. This Symposium convincingly demonstrated that we are in a new era of plant pathological research. Most papers dealing with plant disease or disease resistance at a biochemical or physiological level and current topics in plant pathology are no more “crop oriented”. They are rather on general aspects of disease or disease resistance and not much on diseases of crops. Research workers of plant pathology as well as college and university students, plant physiologists, virologists, plant biochemists, plant breeders, plant protection experts dealing with disease management and environmentalists may beneffi from this volume in the application of the new findings in their special field of interest.
