The Hungarian Pharmacological Society di­vided into five sections (experimental pharma­cology, medicinal chemistry, biochemical pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, che­motherapy) plays an important role in the coordination and stimulation ofdrug research and organizes national and international congresses and meetings for discussing the latest results in this field. 172 Hungarian and 273 foreign scientists coming from 24 countries participated at the first international congress of the society.
