THE EQUINE TARSUS TOPOGRAPHIC AND RADIOGRAPHIC ANATOMY by Gyula Kovács, D. V. Sc. This work deals with the topo­graphic anatomy of the equine tarsus and with the radiographic anatomy of its bones. Although the large-scale mechanization of agriculture has re­placed the tractive power of the horse, the diseases of this animal can­not be neglected by veterinary science. The health of horses still used in agri­culture or in racing should bo safe­guarded. In choosing a horse for-a given purpose the state of the limbs should be investigated, the latent shortcomings and possible lesions detected. The usefulness, and the performance of a horse are largely determined by the state of health of its limbs. In the case of diseases or lesions their timely detection and curing enhances the value of the animal. The author has made a de­tailed study of the regional and X-ray anatomy of the hock, the most com­plicated and functionally the most im­portant. part of the equine hindlimb.
