Lindberg, Folke - Ránki György (szerk.): Hungary and Sweden. Early contacts, early sources - Swedish-Hungarian historical studies (Budapest, 1975)

Edited by the Swedish —Hungarian Historical Committee Chairmen: Folke Lindberg and György Ránki Some years ago a mixed committee of well-known historians of Sweden and Hungary was established to promote the study of the historical connections of the two countries and to bring about closer relations^between them. Professor Folke Lindberg, Professor György Ránki, Áke Kromnow, Director General of the Swedish National Archives, and Academician György Székely, all members of the Committee, have launched the present volume as the first of a series to deal with the various aspects of Swedish —Hungarian relations. On behalf of the Hungarian party, György Székely’s paper discloses interesting details on the history of Norman - Hungarian contacts in the Middle Ages, shedding new light also on Swedish and Hungarian connections in later periods. The Swedish contribution under the guidance of Áke Kromnow is a survey of the source-material on Hungarian history exposed from the Swedish National Archives. The series will have a particular appeal for historians, art and literary historians, and to all those interested in the friendly connections of two European countries which had never been engaged in war against each other.
