NATURAL HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL PARKS OF HUNGARY 4 HHM | | Kiskunság Eil Ш National Park ^KADPMIAI KIADÓ • a ' THE FAUNA OF THE KISKUNSÁG NATIONAL PARK Vol. 4 EDITED BY S. MAHUNKA The fourth volume in the series on the Natural History of the National Parks of Hungary lists a part of the animal species inhabiting the territory of the Kiskunság National Park. The four years of field work (1977—1981) amassed a large amount of material. For the elaboration of this material the Hungarian Natural History Museum organized an international team of scientists. The taxonomic, faunistical, zoogeographical and ecological results, similarly to the volumes on Hortobágy, will be published at least in two volumes. The present one includes contributions on the following groups of animals: worms, crustaceans, insects, mites, amphibians, reptiles and birds. The results obtained so far already justify our presumption that the highly varied biotopes of the national park give recess to a versatile animal life, including many specialities. The book will be a useful handbook not only {fit zoologists or other specialists engaged in the study of animals but also for teachers and laymen interested in nature. AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ BUDAPEST
