THE FAUNA OF THE KISKUNSÁG NATIONAL PARK II Vol. 5 EDITED BY S. MAHUNKA The fifth volume in the series of the Natural History of the National Parks of H ungary lists a part of the animal species inhabiting the territory of the Kiskunság National Park. The four years of field-work (1977-1981) amassed a large amount of materials. For the elaboration of these the Hungarian Natural History Museum organized an international team of scientists. The taxonomic, faunistical, zoogeographical and ecological results, similarly to the two volumes on Hortobágy, are now published in two volumes. This second volume includes contributions on the following groups of animals: nematodes, mollusks, tardigrades, branchiopods, millipedes, centipedes, insects, mites, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The results obtained so far already justify our presumptions that the highly varied biotopes of the national park give recess to a versatile animal life, including many specialities. The present volume will be a useful handbook for the zoologists or other specialists engaged in the study of animals.
