STUDIES ON MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING Edited by A. PRÉKOPA It is already a tradition that the Hungarian Academy of Sciences organizes a scientific meeting at Mátrafüred every year, the topic of which is mathematical programming. The subject of the papers presented by well-known specialists of various subfields of MP is of vital interest, summarizing not only the authors’ own results but also those of other mathematicians working in this field. At the Third Mátrafüred Conference the idea came up that on the basis of the delivered lectures authors should write their expository papers in order to publish them in one volume. This book is the result of the positive reaction of most of the authors. Among the 15 papers published in this volume the reader finds some dealing with linear, nonlinear, stochastic, parametric programming and others containing surveys of some fundamental theories.
