COULOMETRIC ANALYSIS Edited by E. PUNGOR and I. BÚZÁS The papers presented at the Scientific Session on Coulometry held at Mótrafüred (Hungary) in October 1978 are collected here. In the eight plenary lectures the development of coulometric analysis, its application possibilities as well as the new techniques worked out recently in the field of coulometry and their use in chemical analysis were dealt with. The discussion papers were mainly devoted to the practical application of coulometry. This electroanalytical method can be used effectively in clinical diagnostics, pharmaceutical analysis, and industrial analysis. Several papers have shown the importance of controlled potential coulometry in theory and practice. A novel trend is the application of coulometric titration techniques in non-aqueous solvents for the determination of weak acids and bases. The papers provide an up-to-date picture of the new coulometric versions of some acid-base, redox and precipitation titrations and of the possibilities of the simple and accurate determination of various inorganic and organic materials. Finally, the reader of the book can get an idea of the developments in coulometric instrumentation. The book is useful for chemists doing scientific research or working in industrial laboratories.
