Rédei László: The theory of finitely generated commutative semigroups (Budapest, 1965)

L. Rédei THEORY OF FINITELY GENERATED COMMUTATIVE SEMIGROUPS Although the theory of semigroups is important in all branches of Mathematics and not only in Algebra, it is only within the last 30 years that it has been fully elaborated. Until now, the theory of finitely generated commutative semigroups has not been established. The present work by L. Rédei, now to be published in English after a very successful German edition, completely fills this gap. The theory outlined in this book is extremely simple in principle. It is founded on one basic theorem and its application depends on 15 “finite” theorems. Some of these are obtained fairly easily, while the others involve rigorous mathematical concepts. Numerous examples are worked out in detail. This book will be of value to mathematicians generally, and to specialists in Algebra in particular, as well as to university lecturers and students. .......... AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ BUDAPEST
