Szigeti József - Mátrai László: Selected studies - Studia philosophica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae 9. (Budapest, 1965)

SELECTED STUDIES Edited by Gy. Tamás This new volume of Studia Philosophica contains studies mainly concerning philosophical history and logic. The first study is that of J. Szigeti, Director of the Philosophical Institute, Budapest; it deals with the research conditions of philosophy in Hungary and analyses its tasks. L. Mátrai discusses the influence of Italian Averroism in the 16th century on Eastem-European philosophy. (The article comprises the lecture given at the Conference of Italian and Hungarian historians held at Spoleto in October 1964.) L. Erdei analyses one of the central questions of logic from the point of view of dialectical logic, the principle of contradiction in formal and dialectic logic. Gy. Tamás assesses the principle of formal logical identity, also founded on dialectical logic. M. Makai deals with preliminary theories of English neopositive ethics. (An analysis of Bradley’s views is the main point of her article.) L. Lenkei discusses the interrelations of Upanishad materialistic and idealistic philosophy. 31Й AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ PUBLISHING HOUSE OF THE HUNGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES BUDAPEST
