Vargha Gyula: Pharmacoangiography in the diagnosis of tumours (Budapest, 1981)

AKADÉMIAI KIADÓ BUDAPEST PHnRmniOnnCIOGRflPHV in THE DIRGnOSIS by GY.VARGHA OF TUITIOURS In this book the pharmacoangiography of 1,005 animal experiments as well as 462 control angiographies are described. In the majority of cases the kidney, bones, joints, stomach and soft tissues were studied in rabbits and nontumourous dogs after giving vasoconstrictors or vasodilators. In each chapter first the animal experiments are discussed followed by an analysis of the human pharmacoangiography. In the chapters on bone and joint tumours intraosseous angiography and microangiography and in the one dealing with the kidney the renal blood flow measurements (also under drug effect) are assessed. The volume is of special value in the literature as the author analyzes more than 1,000experiments pointing out the pharmacoangiographic possibilities in detecting the hyperand hypovascularized renal carcinoma as well as the bone, joint and soft-tissue tumours. The various experimentally induced tumours are excellently illustrated with colour photos while computertomograms introduce the new techniqe of x-ray examination.
